Italy's stock market regulator met with financial market participants on Monday without a sitting president, as acting head Chiara Mosca delivered the annual address emphasizing that the commission continues to operate at full capacity while awaiting new leadership.
The Italian cabinet is expected to approve on Tuesday the appointment of Guido Stazi, currently secretary general of the Antitrust authority since 2022, as the next Consob president. Stazi previously served as Consob's secretary general from 2013 to 2017.
Mosca highlighted unusual activity in the banking sector regarding corporate control transactions. Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti indicated earlier that the government would address the appointment this week. The regulator handled 933 matters in 2025 and received more than 70 complaints related to ongoing bank consolidation.
