The Israeli military announced Wednesday it is opening criminal investigations into the killing of a five-year-old Palestinian girl and 15 aid workers in Gaza, while declining to pursue charges in other high-profile incidents involving humanitarian personnel.
The IDF confirmed it fired on a vehicle carrying Hind Rajab and her family in Gaza City in January 2024, killing six relatives. Rajab survived the initial attack and pleaded for help in a phone call with the Palestinian Red Crescent before her body was found days later. A separate probe will examine the March 2025 deaths of 15 medics and emergency workers near Rafah.
However, the military's internal review found no reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct regarding the April 2024 strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen employees. The military prosecutor also closed cases involving Médecins Sans Frontières staff without opening investigations.
