Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee are in Guernsey for the 45th summit of the British-Irish Council, the intergovernmental forum established under the Good Friday Agreement.
Hosted by Guernsey's Chief Minister Lindsay de Sausmarez, this year's meeting focuses on early years systems designed to support children and families, including age-appropriate digital access and youth wellbeing. The agenda arrives amid heightened attention to children's online safety, following last month's announcement by the British government that it will legislate to restrict social media access for those under 16.
The council brings together representatives from governments across the British Isles to coordinate on shared policy priorities.
