Iran has warned it will retaliate against any country cooperating with the United States, as American forces completed a 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iranian military targets, hitting the IRGC Navy headquarters in Zibakenar and drone storage facilities.
Speaking at a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Kyrgyzstan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared Tehran reserves the right to self-defence and will hold all US partners accountable. IRGC Aerospace Force commander Seyed Majid Mousavi said US allies in the region would be "plunged into darkness" if Washington targets Iranian power plants and bridges. Iran has also claimed drone attacks on air bases in Bahrain and Jordan, while officials told the New York Times that Tel Aviv would be struck if President Donald Trump follows through on threats.
The current escalation began on 8 July after US forces resumed operations in response to Iranian actions against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, collapsing a peace memorandum signed on 18 June that had paused the conflict originally sparked on 28 February.
