Investors lose nearly $3.8 billion on Trump memecoin as token collapses

· Business USA

Investors have suffered roughly $3.81 billion in collective losses on the TRUMP memecoin, with nearly 989,000 wallets holding the token in the red, according to market data. Two-thirds of all wallets that purchased the cryptocurrency lost money as the token plunged from an all-time high above $75 to around $1.65 — a drop of roughly 98 percent.

U.S. President Donald Trump, however, profited handsomely from the venture. Financial disclosures show he received approximately $636 million from the memecoin, even as nearly one million individual investors saw their holdings erode.

The losses underscore the extreme volatility of politically branded digital assets. The TRUMP token, launched to capitalize on the president's name and supporter base, attracted a massive retail following before its steep decline wiped out most of the capital poured into it.
