Infanta Sofía will deliver her first official public speech on Wednesday evening, presiding over the inaugural "Docentes Referentes" awards at the Monasterio de Cogullada in Zaragoza. The 19-year-old, who serves as honorary president of the Ibercaja Foundation for its 150th anniversary, will recognize five teachers from Granada, Valencia, Valladolid, and Zaragoza for excellence in educational leadership, sustainability, inclusion, research, and health education.

Princess Leonor joined her younger sister by surprise earlier Wednesday, attending a sustainability talk and supporting the event, which drew 24 of the 25 finalists from 478 applications submitted to the February 2026 call. The initiative will establish a national network of reference teachers for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Sofía, who studies political science and international relations at Forward College's Lisbon campus, previously made her first solo appearance in December 2024 at the Royal Collections Gallery.
