Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Indonesia's highest state honour, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, from President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, becoming only the second Indian leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to be so decorated.
The award capped a state visit that opened on July 7 with an [Indian Community Reception in Jakarta](https://www.antara news.com/berita/5639711/prabowo-tegaskan-persahabatan-ri-india-saat-indian-community-reception), where Prabowo described Modi as a personal admirer who refrains from interfering in India's domestic politics. The two governments exchanged bilateral documents spanning maritime safety, defence, space, rare earths, health and agriculture, building on a comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2018. Indonesia has also expressed interest in acquiring India's BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system.
On July 8, the leaders jointly inaugurated a restoration project at the UNESCO-listed Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta before Prabowo saw Modi off at the airport with a warm embrace. Modi then departed for Australia for a three-day visit including the India-Australia Annual Summit with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
