Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action says the supply security of the PCK refinery in Schwedt has been bolstered by new alternative crude deliveries, as the facility adapts to the loss of pipeline flows from the east.
Polish fuel trader Unimot Paliwa announced on 13 July that PCK is receiving a cargo of South American oil routed through Poland, and initial shipments via the port of Gdansk are already under way. The alternative routes became critical after Russia halted the transit of Kazakh crude through the Druzhba pipeline in May 2026, cutting off a key replacement source the refinery had relied upon.
The Schwedt plant has not received Russian oil since an embargo took effect in 2023, forcing operators to secure supply through seaborne cargoes and pipeline diversions via neighbouring Poland.
