German schlager singer Heino has filed a lawsuit seeking 30,000 euros in non-material damages against the Alternative für Deutschland's Uckermark branch, alleging violations of his personality and trademark rights.
The legal action, confirmed by Heino's manager Helmut Werner, was lodged at the regional court in Innsbruck, Austria. The dispute stems from a social media post by AfD politician Felix Teichner ahead of the Uckermark district council election in April, in which Teichner wrote that Heino would vote for him. Werner said the singer had publicly positioned himself as a supporter of the Christian Democrats during the last federal election.
The AfD Uckermark branch has since issued a cease-and-desist declaration in relation to the matter.
