A restaurant building housing Big Horn Steakhouse and Peppes Pizza in Kongsberg is fully engulfed and expected to burn to the ground after fire broke out late Wednesday, emergency services said.

Police received the alarm at 20.13 on 15 July 2026. Multiple propane gas cylinders exploded inside the structure, producing loud blasts heard across the area. Emergency crews established a 300-metre security perimeter and closed surrounding roads as flames rose above the roofline.

All staff and others at the scene have been accounted for with no injuries reported, though the building has not yet been searched. Firefighters have contained the blaze with no risk of spread to neighbouring structures, authorities said.
