Frontier Airlines will introduce SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet on its flights, with the first equipped Airbus aircraft entering service in early 2027, the carrier announced on Tuesday. The deal makes Frontier one of five Indigo Partners-backed airlines adopting the technology, with the private equity firm's portfolio carriers planning to install the service across a combined fleet of more than 1,000 aircraft.
Fellow Indigo airlines Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSmart, and Cebu Pacific are also participating. Wizz Air will become the first European ultra-low-cost carrier to offer Starlink, with installation on its planes beginning next year.
The agreement expands Starlink's growing aviation footprint. The satellite internet provider has now signed deals with more than 40 carriers worldwide, including major U.S. airlines United Airlines and American Airlines. The batch of budget carriers represents one of the largest single group commitments to the service.
