A fox was discovered Monday morning in the parliamentary office of Conservative MP George Freeman at Portcullis House, having bypassed security and navigated four flights of stairs to reach the Mid Norfolk lawmaker's workspace.
Freeman's parliamentary caseworker found the animal hiding in a stationery cupboard around 9 a.m. after hearing noises, roughly 45 minutes after it entered the room. The fox was given water and escorted from the building by the Houses of Parliament pest control team before being released in nearby Victoria Tower Gardens.
The incident follows a previous fox sighting near Westminster Hall last October. Portcullis House has seen a broader rise in pest activity, with 23 mammal-related actions recorded last year compared to three in 2024, alongside an increase in rat and mouse incidents.
