England's Gabriel Langton suffered a concussion after falling headfirst from the horizontal bar during the men's team gymnastics final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Thursday.
The 18-year-old was treated on the mat before being stretchered off in a head and neck brace. Langton was conscious and moving his limbs before leaving the arena, and was later speaking with doctors in hospital. Team England said he was taken to hospital for further assessment and thanked medical staff.
Langton, a late replacement for injured six-time Olympic medallist Max Whitlock, competed as England secured the silver medal behind Canada, with Australia taking bronze. Whitlock, covering the event for broadcast, described the incident as a horrible accident.
