Dave Bautista is in negotiations to portray Kratos in the upcoming God of War television adaptation for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, stepping into the role after original lead Ryan Hurst sustained a serious on-set injury.
Production halted in its fourth month when Hurst broke his arm during a stunt in late June, forcing the departure of Hurst after four episodes had been shot. All scenes featuring Hurst will be reshot with the new actor. Bautista, known for playing Drax in six Marvel Studios films, is expected to begin preparation in mid-August, with filming set to resume in Vancouver in mid-October.
The series, led by showrunner Ronald D. Moore, will adapt events from the last two games of the Norse saga. Its premiere is now expected in late 2027.
