Darline Graham announced on Sunday that she will run for a full U.S. Senate term in South Carolina, entering a crowded Republican primary days after being appointed to fill the seat left vacant by her brother, Lindsey Graham, who died on 11 July at age 71 from an aortic rupture.
Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham to serve out the remainder of the term, which runs through early January 2027. She confirmed her candidacy in a Fox News interview, following a 17 July endorsement from Donald Trump posted on Truth Social.
The special Republican primary is set for 11 August, with a filing deadline of 28 July. Candidates already in the race include Representatives Russell Fry and Ralph Norman, while Representative Nancy Mace has said she will not run. A runoff, if needed, would follow on 25 August.
