Danish debut feature "The Guest" claimed the jury's special prize in the Crystal Globe Competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, marking a breakout moment for its first-time director.
Mads Mengel also won the best director award at the Czech festival for the film, which had its world premiere on Saturday. The double recognition places the emerging Danish filmmaker among the most watched new talents on the European festival circuit this season.
"The Guest" is scheduled for a Danish theatrical release in June 2027. Mengel is already lined up for further work, set to direct the second season of the TV 2 series "Danefæ."
