Czech hotel guest numbers rise slightly in second quarter on domestic demand

· Business CZE

Czech hotels and guesthouses hosted 6.4 million guests in the second quarter of 2026, a 0.5 percent increase from a year earlier, driven largely by domestic travelers as foreign visitor arrivals stagnated.

Domestic guests reached 3.4 million, up 0.9 percent, while foreign tourist numbers held flat at 2.9 million — the first time since early 2021 that overseas demand failed to grow. Germans remained the largest foreign group at 650,000 visitors. Total overnight stays edged up 0.3 percent to 15.1 million nights, and revenue in accommodation, food and hospitality services rose 0.9 percent, though accommodation earnings remain roughly a third below 2019 levels.

In Prague, domestic guests rose 5.1 percent to 416,970 while foreign arrivals dipped 2.6 percent to 1.75 million, with Germans, Americans and Poles leading overseas visitors.
