Czech government reviews first-half progress on coalition programme pledges

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is reviewing his cabinet's progress on its governing programme six months after the coalition of ANO, SPD, and Motorists won approval in early January. The third Babiš cabinet, appointed by President Petr Pavel in mid-December 2025, has completed roughly 35 percent of its pledges, Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlíček said after meeting Babiš alongside Finance Minister Alena Schillerová.

Results across ministries varied. Havlíček cited lower energy prices and support for energy-intensive industries as his department's main achievements, while Culture Minister Oto Klempíř reported nearly half his tasks done. Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said only 18 percent of health goals were met, and Labour Minister Aleš Juchelka finished 11 of 83 tasks. Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna said all key defence measures were on track.

Full results will be presented at a press conference at Kramář Villa. Ministers were tasked with compiling reports through 30 June. Babiš announced the defence budget will rise by 36 billion crowns next year.
