A crowd of residents in Lviv overturned and damaged a military recruitment centre vehicle during a confrontation that left two servicemen with minor injuries, authorities said on Wednesday.
The clash began late on Tuesday at an intersection in the city's Sykhiv district during mobilisation activities and lasted until early Wednesday morning. A group surrounded the soldiers before flipping their vehicle. Recruiters detained a man born in 1996 who had been wanted since mid-June for draft evasion.
The defence ministry condemned the incident as unacceptable, while the Ukrainian General Staff warned that attacks on recruitment personnel undermine the country's defence capabilities. Police opened a criminal case for assault on an officer. Lviv regional governor Maxym Kozytskyy convened an emergency meeting and vowed that all offenders would be identified and prosecuted.
