Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey held its world premiere in London on Tuesday, setting the stage for a global theatrical rollout beginning July 16.
The adaptation of Homer's epic is the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, utilizing 70mm analog IMAX stock. Nolan said Matt Damon immediately came to mind when casting the lead role of Odysseus. Damon, in turn, called the production the most physically demanding film he has ever undertaken.
The film reaches cinemas on July 17 in some markets, with the broader international release scheduled for the surrounding days.
