Carly Simon revealed on Sunday that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, saying she is learning to live with the condition. The 83-year-old singer-songwriter received the diagnosis at the Mayo Clinic.
Simon also underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth on her face, specifically treatment for basal cell carcinoma. She previously survived breast cancer surgery in the 1990s.
Despite the health challenges, Simon continues her musical comeback. Her new album 'Comes in Waves' is scheduled for release on August 14, marking her first full-length studio album since 2008. The first single, 'Howl,' was released in June. Simon made history in 1990 as the first woman to win an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe for the same song, 'Let the River Run.'
