The Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace has nearly doubled the number of paintings on view, displaying 120 works after a redisplay that took 875 hours to complete. The gallery will be open to visitors during the summer opening from July 9 to September 27, 2026.

The overhaul replaced coral pink velvet wall coverings dating from 1976 with emerald-green silk damask and new lighting. Notable additions to the gallery include Johan Zoffany's The Tribuna of the Uffizi, which was last hung there in 1841, along with works by George Stubbs and a 2023 portrait of King Charles III by Jonathan Yeo.

Anna Reynolds, surveyor of the King's pictures, said the rehang increases the number of world-class paintings on display and offers a rare opportunity to share more of the Royal Collection. The Picture Gallery was originally designed to showcase George IV's collection.
