A 46-year-old woman from South Wales says she is owed a £12 million National Lottery jackpot after the winning ticket was discarded at a shop when a scanner failed to detect the prize.
Kath Main, of Abercynon, has played the same set of numbers for two decades and says her ticket matched all six numbers drawn on 6 June 2026. She provided operator Allwyn with a purchase receipt and surveillance footage as evidence that the ticket was purchased and later binned. The shop owner acknowledged the scanning machine could have been malfunctioning at the time.
Allwyn has opened an internal investigation and expects a decision within 30 days. Lottery rules permit claims without a physical ticket when sufficient proof is supplied, though past cases have shown that failure to meet deadlines can render claims invalid.
