BP is selling its Austrian fuel station network to Swiss energy company Volenergy, the companies announced on July 20, as the British oil major refocuses its portfolio on upstream oil and gas investments.
Volenergy will take over 250 BP-branded stations in Austria, 115 of which are owned outright by BP, and plans to continue operating them under the BP brand. The financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026.
The divestment is the latest in a series of retail exits by BP, which previously sold its station networks in Switzerland in 2022, Turkey in 2024, and the Netherlands in 2025. Volenergy already operates the largest fuel station network in Switzerland, where it runs more than 730 sites.
