Blue Origin raises $10 billion in first outside funding round at $130 billion valuation

· BusinessTechnology USA

Blue Origin has secured about $10 billion in its first external funding round, valuing Jeff Bezos's space venture at roughly $130 billion. The raise comes weeks after rival SpaceX completed an initial public offering that priced the company near $2 trillion.

Coatue Management is anchoring the round with a $4 billion commitment, while Bezos himself is contributing $2 billion. The capital infusion follows a setback in late May, when a New Glenn rocket exploded during a static hot-fire test, destroying the vehicle and damaging launch infrastructure. Blue Origin aims to return New Glenn to flight by year's end.

The company introduced its TeraWave satellite communications network in January as it seeks to broaden its commercial footprint beyond launch services.
