Veteran actor Anthony Hopkins, 88, has signed a record deal as a composer with Decca Classics, marking a late-career shift into classical music.
Hopkins released his debut single, Bracken Road, on Friday. The piece, composed in 1963 while he was at the Liverpool Playhouse, draws on his childhood memories of Margam in south Wales during the 1940s. The music is performed by conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
The full-length album, Life Is a Dream, is scheduled for release on 21 August 2026 and includes the track My Fatherland, a nod to his Welsh heritage. Hopkins has long pursued music alongside his Oscar-winning acting career, but this marks his first formal classical release.
